Not often is a new, high tech bathroom appliance specifically designed to save the homeowner money while at the same time delivering the very best in water saving showering technology! Kohler has done just that with its HydroRail shower columns.
The Torsion HydroRail converts easily from a fixed shower head to a multi-function showering experience.
A luxurious home-spa showering experience, Kohler’s HydroRail is designed to replace a wall-mounted fixed-head shower. It can be installed in an existing shower space without the expense or inconvenience of having to go ‘behind the wall’ and change current plumbing.
Convert your fixed head shower.
Originally developed for the Westin Hotel group – to help them meet their global commitment to reduce their water usage by 20 per cent by 2020 – the HydroRail, designed to deliver an overhead tropical rainshower experience, envelopes the user in a deluge of large, full drops. In addition the user can take advantage of adding a handshower – the Awaken multifunction handshower – for hair washing or a more targeted massaging water spray.
The HydroRail comprises either an arched or square shower column (designed to give maximum height to the showerhead) with a 200mm RainCan showerhead with Katalyst technology; an Awaken multi-function hand shower; a diverter (to switch between overhead and hand shower); and a stainless steel shower hose.
The HydroRail Round Showering Column with Katalyst showerhead and multifunction handshower.
Katalyst technology injects 2.2 litres of air into every 9.4 litres of water to create larger, fuller water droplets that retain heat longer – all the time using only 9 litres of water a minute (3 star WELS rating).
The HydroRail Square Shower Column with Katalyst showerhead and multifunction handshower.
The HydroRail Shower Column is available with a round or square 200mm RainCan showerhead and features the Awaken hand shower with a 110mm diameter sculpted spray face and three different spray patterns accessed by a simple slide tab on the showerhead.
Another option is the Kohler Hydrorail Slide Shower featuring the Awaken showerhead with slide rail and bracket. This again is designed to be retrofitted without the need to go ‘behind the wall’ with the slide rail enabling the user to adjust the showerhead to the exact height required or use it as a handshower for rinsing hair or even the walls of the shower space!
The HydroRail slide shower converts easily from a fixed showerhead.
The breakthrough HydroRail from Kohler brings a cost-effective showering upgrade within reach of us all. Trade an outdated fixed wall-mount showerhead for a luxury spa experience using existing plumbing with the Kohler HydroRail shower column or slide shower.

Bathroom renovations, no matter how basic, are always a costly exercise – recent figures from HIA show bathroom renovations now cost between $15,500 and $20,000. While these figures depend on the size of the bathroom and finishes chosen there are some bathroom brands determined to ensure good design and high quality are available to all, irrespective of budget.
The new Kumin collection of tapware, from Kohler, embraces simple design and high-end performance. The single lever basin mixers, in standard and tall, feature soft-shaped lines with pillowed profile to lever and spout. Matching shower mixer, with or without diverter, echoes this shape.

The mixers’ 35mm cartridge ensures high performance – testing, involving an impressive one million cycles, showed a life cycle of at least 50 years of usage. This is twice the industry standard according to Kohler.
The mixer’s integrated aerator creates a full flow of water yet the tap’s rating is an excellent five star WELS with 6 litres of water per minute.
This style of understated tapware is particularly useful for smaller bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms.
And for those who like the style of Kumin there is also a kitchen mixer – four star WELS (7.5L/min) – in the range!

Kohler, one of the world’s largest bathroom specialists, is on track to achieve its Net Zero carbon footprint by 2035 – a programme that promotes sustainability while delivering innovative new products to our bathrooms.
The company’s 50 manufacturing plants, spread across six continents, have each reduced carbon emissions and solid waste by 3% per annum since 2008 but it is probably the planet-conscious products we are now seeing in our bathrooms that are attracting the most attention.
Kohler’s toilets have reduced their water usage from 37 litres a flush in the 1930s to 4.5/3 litres in today’s dual flush models. More exciting – in terms of both aesthetics and experience – are the new Katalyst showerheads using Kohler’s patented air induction technology.
Katalyst showerheads cleverly inject air into the water flow – so each droplet of water feels bigger and performs better. By introducing one litre of air to every five litres of water the user feels as though they are having a drenching shower – and in the process enjoys all the associated soothing and relaxing benefits.
There are a number of shower designs using Katalyst technology that ensures all needs are met.
The RainCan is a simple, yet boldly stylish overhead shower in round or square configuration in a choice of 200mm and 250mm sizes. Designed to create a powerful, thoroughly enveloping shower experience its enhanced spray nozzle configuration delivers complete coverage with full, heavy water droplets.
The Round 200mm RainCan Katalyst showerhead
The Rain Duet Shower Column is a good option for families, combining an overhead 200mm square or round showerhead with a handshower on a 1.5m hose. The latter is ideal for smaller children and hair washing.

And finally the Loure shower column. This new release shower column sports sleek, contemporary aesthetics combining a square, 250mm overhead showerhead with a hand-held shower wand.
The new release Loure shower column features a drenching overhead shower with a versatile hand-shower.
All of the Katalyst showering tapware appliances listed above utilise Kohler’s air injection technology to deliver drenching, all-enveloping showers while using only 9 litres of water a minute (3 star WELS rating). Each is made of solid brass with Kohler’s tarnish and corrosion resistant polished chrome finish.
